Acne |
| Descriptions: |
Acne
is a condition caused by skin cells that do not shed properly
and plug pores, causing oil and bacteria to be trapped inside.
As the oil and bacteria accumulates, the skin becomes inflamed
and swells outwards forming the familiar whiteheads, blackheads
and pimples. The most common type of acne shows up on the
face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest. |
Treatment
End Point
|
Mild
to moderate redness and swelling that will fade in as little
as a couple hours to as much as a few days. |
Expected
Outcome: |
While
outcomes vary from person to person a prospective clinical
study indicates that over 90% of patients treated experience
marked reduction in acne lesions. |

|
After
|
| Applications: |
Enhanced
Skin Rejuvenation treats fine wrinkles and sun-damaged skin.
Patients with photo-damage and photo-aging often benefit from
the procedure. Specifically addresses: sun damage, wrinkles,
photo-aging, lentigines and facial telangiectasia, vascular
and pigment irregularities. |
| Descriptions: |
With
this process solar lentigines and facial telangiectasia
are
treated individually with the Aura/Gemini laser. The entire
face is
"painted" with the Aura/Gemini. This is followed
by a second pass with the Lyra/Gemini laser, for facial toning
and the
treatment
of fine wrinkles. |
| Treatment
End Point |
Solar
lentigines may darken following treatment. After painting technique
a slight erythema might be present. |
Expected
Outcome: |
With
this procedure patients will typically benefit from 3-8 treatments.
Clearing of sun damage such as lentigines will be evident after
the first few treatments. Wrinkle improvement will be gradual
over the first three months of treatment as new collagen forms,
creating a smoother, younger looking skin. |

| Description: |
Flat
brown spots that appear because of the accumulation of lipofuscin
(naturally occurring dark brown pigment soluble in fat) in the
tissue unrelated to sun exposure, often malignant. |
| Treatment
End Point |
Full
vaporization with light graying of tissue at treatment time.
The area turns darker within a few hours and flakes off in about
one week. If the pigment is diffuse or light brown, the end
point is not as obvious, however, the lesion should turn darker
and flake off as normal. |
Expected
Outcome: |

Shaving
(razor) bumps/Pseudo-follicuitis |
| Description: |
Pseudo-folliculitis
(razor bumps) is a common condition of a closely shaved area
which occurs in people with thick curly hair. The problem
results when highly curly hairs grow back into the skin causing
inflammation and a foreign body reaction. Over time, this
can cause keloidal scarring which looks like hard bumps. |
| Treatment
End Point |
Perifollicular
erythema (reddening around hair shaft) immediately following
laser application. On occasion this reaction is absent or
minimal |
Expected
Outcome: |
Full
resolution. Requires multiple (up to 5) treatments with occasional
following maintenance treatments. |

Red

|

Before
|

After
|
| Application: |
Leg
veins (red and blue) |
| Description: |
Veins
that are distended, tortuous / twisted bulging "ropey" superficial
veins of the leg that instead of conducting blood upward,
back to the heart, conduct blood downward, in a reversed
fashion, back to the foot |
| Treatment
End Point |
Fine
veins may blanch, larger veins are thicker and may blanch
or turn grayish and flatten. You should not see a refill/rebound
after the vessel is depressed. The onset of surrounding
erythema and edema occurs in a few minutes. It is important
to select the right handpieces; smaller superficial veins
require smaller spot size, and larger deeper veins require
a larger spot size. Erythema (reddening) can last a few
days, some smaller superficial vessels can form a cat scratch
scab over vein patch, and larger veins will take a few weeks
to fade. |
Expected
Outcome: |
Usually
takes one to three treatments. Vessels may take 8 weeks
to fade. |
