PVP, or Photo-Selective Vaporization of the Prostate, is a revolutionary new therapeutic alternative for treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), or enlargement of the Prostate. The PVP procedure is conducted in an outpatient setting, typically a hospital or surgical center and the average operative time is under 20 minutes. The GreenLight PV® surgical laser system is used to deliver laser light pulses through a specially designed fiber optic delivery device that is inserted through a standard cystoscope under endoscopic visualization. The light pulses are directed at the prostate obstructive tissue and quickly and gently vaporize and remove it completely and bloodlessly.

Once the procedure is completed, patients exhibit immediate post-operative symptom relief and dramatic improvements in AUA symptom scores, flow rates, and post-void residuals.
